It's the little things

My friend sent me a link to a blog he doesn't post on anymore, but one entry took me back a little. It was an entry I'd never seen before. That would be this one.

I should mention, this was a very hard time in my life where I was dealing with the existence of objective good and evil and slowly becoming the Catholic I am now. It is interesting to see where other people in my life were at that time in my life that was so intense, and how close we might have been without really realizing it.

It's funny that he thinks it's sad that he "had so much fun just goofing around" and not really doing anything, but that was probably one of the more important days in my life. It was one of the times I realized just how important friends and family really are to our life on God's green Earth in keeping us not only sane, but reminding us that we're all in this together.

Sometimes it really is the little things that remind you of the bigger ones.

I hope to be seeing "Inside Out" this Friday with him, and I hope we have as much fun there. Friends are people you can never really replace or do without and when you find one, do not take them for granted. They are there because you need them to be there, just as you are there because they need you to be.

Don't mind me, I'm just musin'.

Cowboy Bebop - Only in Dreams

One of my favorites, an old one, but well worth seeing if you haven't. Also, if you haven't seen Cowboy Bebop, you should really get on that. It's awesome.

This video was made a very long time ago, but it has managed to stick with me. I hope it will stick with you, too.

Enjoy.

Super Mario Bros. and then some!

That's right, there's a Mario game that allows you to make your own levels. And not just in one style, but in ALL OF THEM.

That's right, you can make levels in the style of the original Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Bros. 3, Super Mario World, and New Super Mario Bros. and mix and match enemy types and level tropes to your fancy!

This is gonna be awesome.

Oh, yeah, it was also part of the Nintendo World Championships Nintendo held on Sunday. Part of the finals. Have a look! (It's a long one, but well worth it if you've ever grown up with or played a Mario game before)

Nintendo is still king in the video game world.

Seven Continents Book Challenge

Via Happy Catholic: Favorite books from different continents!

1. What is your favourite book set in Europe? Who is your favourite European author?

That Hideous Strength by C.S. Lewis

J.R.R. Tolkien without question.

2. What is your favourite book set in North America? Who is your favourite North American author?

Love in the Ruins by Walker Percy

Favorite author is harder, as I haven't found the most consistent canons from authors I enjoy. I guess I might have to go with Dean Koontz for being the author to most consistently hit the mark for me.

3. What is your favourite book set in South America? Who is your favourite South American author?

I'm afraid I do not have one of either.

4. What is your favourite book set in Asia? Who is your favourite Asian author?

Silence by Shusaku Endo

Same author.

5. What is your favourite book set in Australasia? Who is your favourite antipodean author?

This is probably my weakest area. I do not know of any novels I have read entirely set here or am I aware of any authors I read from there. I sure would like to, though.

6. Have you ever read, or do you know of, any books written by authors in Antarctica/ the Arctic?

Afraid not.

I have read stories on a global scale with both as parts of the story, but never one taking place entirely in such a region.

7. Who are your favourite African authors & books set in Africa?

Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe

No all time favorite authors.

Going by this I sure do seem to like reading European authors from the mid-20th Century and earlier and modern 21st Century North American authors above all. Not that I wouldn't like to read more from other areas, but I would probably need suggestions first.

Anyway, it was a fun try.

I Guess Not

I didn't post last week due to a lot of things hitting at once. Once again, I apologize for not posting to anyone who actually reads this thing.

This week however is the Electronic Entertainment Expo, known as E3, which is a big event for video game fans. Lots of stuff tends to get announced here, and I'm thinking of making some posts about some of the announcements.

So check here this week. I should hopefully have some good stuff up.

Sorry

Running a bit dry this week. Hopefully I should have a better post next week.

Sorry!
